First and foremost: forget the size you've always worn
Each brand has its own sizing. A size M t-shirt here might be different from an M from another brand. Therefore, always check the actual measurements before buying.
How to take your measurements correctly
You will need a tape measure and 2 minutes.
Chest: Measure around the fullest part of your chest, passing under your armpits. Keep the tape parallel to the floor.
Length: Measure from the shoulder to where you want the garment to end.

Classic doubt: M or L?
If you are between two sizes, consider:

Care with washing
